THE INSTRUCTOR
Stéphane OFFORT, after studying physics at the univeristy Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris he decided to explore on an other level the relation of body/ mind, thoughts/emotions by studying the budhhist teachings. He took part in a 3-year retreat under the guidance of Gendune Rinpoche and then continued for 12 years in retreat.
After 25 years’ experience of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition he decided to explore how to share the experiences of meditation in a non-religious context, starting to learn and teach the mindfulness approach developed by the doctor Jon Kabat-Zinn throught the MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) in the 1980’s.
For nearly 10 years Stéphane has taught mindfulness meditation to a very wide audience in the form of retreats, weekends and themed retreats.
Stéphane is also an instructor of the 8-week MBSR protocol, for which he has developed an online 8-week formula at European level, giving more people the chance to enjoy the quality and benefits of this protocol.
Stéphane works in collaboration with his long-time friend Stéphane FAURE, Euthymia. Together they run the OPALE training and retreats.
He is also involved in research programmes with Antoine Lutz from Inserm and the Longimed study, which specialises in neuroscience research into meditation.
He is currently working with Imperial College London on the implementation of a new neuroscience research protocol.
He has co-facilitated MBSR protocols with Dr Marion Barault at the Bergonié Institute and the Institut Hominis, as well as other programmes for patients at the Bergonié Institute.
He is a certificatied teacher with the IMA – institute for mindfulness based approaches, and instructing future MBSR instructors.
Stephane continues to teach meditation both within the Buddhist tradition and in the full laic mindfulness approach in other countries; Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany.
He has also initiated retreats in Nepal to support local NGOs and combine mindfulness and humanity.
