How the program works
Each week the group meets live for two and a half hours: guided practice, dialogue about what came up during the week, and a theme that builds on the previous one. Between sessions you practise at home with the audio, video and PDF materials you receive throughout the program.
Around the sixth week there is a full day of silent practice. You receive everything needed to do it at home, or together with other participants living near you; we prepare that day together during the program.
The group matters: it brings energy, exchange, discovery, and a sense of shared humanity. Groups have four to twelve participants, so that everyone has room to speak.
Developed in the late 1970s by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts, MBSR has been studied for forty years. Regular practice is associated with less mind-wandering, better regulation of emotions, stress and anxiety, and greater resilience. Effects vary from person to person.

Questions people ask
Is the online course really the same as in person?
Yes. Same eight weeks, same session length, same practice day, same curriculum. The only difference is that you join from home.
Do I need any experience?
No. MBSR is open to complete beginners. What is needed is the commitment to practise about 45 minutes a day for eight weeks, with the guided recordings you receive.
What do I need technically?
A computer or tablet with a camera, a stable internet connection, and the free Zoom application. A quiet space where you will not be interrupted for two and a half hours.
Can MBSR replace psychotherapy?
No. MBSR is a training in mindfulness, not a psychotherapy. It can help with stress and emotional regulation, but it does not replace therapeutic support.
What if I miss a session?
If you miss a session for a reason beyond your control, you are offered an individual video call of up to 45 minutes to go over what was covered and answer your questions.
